Basket, cup

Plain twining, bottom is Z-twist, sides are S-twist, rightward work direction, outside work face. Spruce root warp and weft. One row of three-strand twining at the turn-up, S-twist. One face overlay in white bear grass and mud-dyed spruce root. Rim is two-strand vertical braid twined down to the inside.

From collector's journal: "5-1895 Grande Ronde cup/Old Nellie Ann/1895/ Price 1.00/Grande Ronde Cup Bird Cage stitch, bought from an old blue? Eyed squaw by the name Old Nellie Ann."
