Basket, Clam

Child's clam basket. Plain open twining with an extra twist between the warps. Z-twist. Rightward work direction, outside work face. Spruce root warp and weft. Four rows in two bands of bear grass plaiting. Rim: warps gathered into vertical braids and two rows of horizontal braids. Carrying strap in jute, raffia, and cotton string. Woven band is warp-faced finger weaving, with some blue-dyed raffia.
