Basket, Bowl

Description: 

Twined basket over paired warps, S-twist. Entirely Juncus rush warp and weft. Base is three-strand twining. Sides are plain twining over paired warps, and twill twining above base; mostly close (slightly open) twining. Two bands of checkered green (possibly dyed with ledger ink), lower one of four rows, upper one of three rows. Rows of three-strand twining: one below upper green band, two above. Border/rim is a horizontal braid using only warps.
This type of basket was made in Willamette Valley (Upper Umpqua River, Calapooia River) and at the coast from Siletz to Tillamook.
