Basket

Plain twining, Z-twist, rightward work direction, outside work face. Tule cordage warp, S-twist. Start is a single wrapped bundle. Tan weft on base is tule stem, white on sides is cattail or tule basal leaves, dark brown is dark-dyed or natural older tule root. A bundle is tied on edge of twisted weft of white cattail basal leaf and small piece of middle-aged tule root. Motif is variation of arrowhead. Rim is a trac border, over two warps and down to the inside.
Purchased from Mrs. Jackson in 1947 at the former Klamath Reservation. She is shown weaving a basket in a 1947 film archived at MNCH.
