Description: 

Plain twining, start is S-twist, then Z, then S, then Z-twist for the sides, a technique used on Oregon's South Coast. Wrapped bundle start. Two rows of three-strand twining on base. Spruce root warp and weft. First and third (from bottom) bands of triangles have one face overlay in cedar bark; the second band has mud-dyed spruce root. Fourth and fifth (from bottom) bands of triangles have roots stained with blue ledger ink; the fourth band also has two rows of mud-dyed spruce root. Split hazel stick bound rim (also typical of lower Coquille/Bandon Marsh area). One row of open crossed warps below rim.
