In addition to serving as the Steward for the Many Nations Longhouse, Gordon was promoted in Spring 2013 to serve as Director of Native American Initiatives. Gordon is an enrolled member of the Klamath Tribes. He received his Master of Science in Anthropology, Linguistics, and International Studies through the UO’s Individual Studies-Independent Programs. In his new position, he works with the University to facilitate consultation with Native American Tribes and organizations, as well as provide advice and assistance to the local Native American population. Gordon has also been conducting research in areas pertinent to the northwest tribes. As the Steward of the Many Nations Longhouse, Gordon serves as an information source for many local Native American events within the local community.
Many Nations Longhouse
The Many Nations Longhouse serves as a place of respite for American Indian students at the University of Oregon as they navigate their academic endeavors. Its mission is to provide welcome, respecting the diversity of numerous American Indian cultures and beliefs. The Many Nations Longhouse is a place of community, welcome, peace, harmony, cultural exchange, and of individual support.
